We are all intoxicated, and it is the causes of many ailments, including being overweight.

To remedy this, follow a detoxification cure such as the Lemon Detox”! The Lemon Detox cure, of which there are several variations, has its roots in the 1950s, and became popular in the 1970s, when it was called “Master Cleanser“, named after the book by its author, Stanley Burroughs. The principle is simple: replace any solid food for two weeks with a cocktail made from squeezed lemon juice and maple syrup.

Here is the recipe:

  • 12 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon
  • 12 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper (or fresh ginger) to you to dose according to your taste
  • Water to reach a total volume of 1.5 litres, i.e. the “ration” for the whole day.

What about lemon acidity?

We cannot deny it, lemon is sour. And for those who still doubt it: bite into a lemon with your teeth, you’ll understand! This is due to one of its components: citric acid.

However, it appears that once ingested, the lemon becomes alkaline.

How is that?

Well, it’s all about metabolizing the acids in the lemon. If your body oxidizes them well during digestion, these acids will leave alkaline residues, such as carbonates and bicarbonates.

So the lemon is acidic on the outside of our body and alkaline when properly metabolized on the inside.

However, some people may not tolerate the acidity of lemon well, and consequently metabolize it poorly. These people usually have excess acidity in their bodies. They are therefore no longer able to manage the acidity that reaches them.

The process of regulating and stabilizing the pH has a name, the buffer effect.

For those who drink lemon water: don’t worry! As lemon is diluted in water, it is much less aggressive. You can therefore serenely enjoy all the benefits of lemon.
If by chance you notice that your drink does not go well, try to put more water in it for the same amount of lemon, or simply stop drinking it 🙂.

How do I know if I am matabolizing lemon acids properly?

To find out, nothing could be simpler: take the test. If you feel that you are digesting poorly, have heartburn or acid reflux…you obviously metabolize lemon acids poorly. Your body is therefore generally slightly acidic.

To correct this: eat more alkaline foods such as fruit and vegetables.
